Welcome Back!
We hope all our EVS students and their families enjoyed a great Winter break. It is hard to believe we are quickly approaching the end of Term 1 and the halfway point of the school year. We currently have a number of new students joining our EVS classes. It is great to see our school community continue to grow. It is also that time of year when we start to plan for our Grade 8's as they transition into Grade 9 next year. Grade 8 families should have received an email directly with some additional information about the next steps in starting to prepare for that transition.
I also want to take this opportunity to welcome Kristin Stevens, who is joining Elementary Virtual School as Vice Principal, with Adam Andrecyk's move. Kristin will be transitioning into the SST role supporting students with Special Education needs over the month of January. Vice Principal, Scott McFarlane will be the Admin lead for Elementary Virtual School moving forward.

Making pizza is an easy and fun recipe to make with family and Friends ! When you’re making pizza remember that you can use any toppings you like. If you’re having trouble kneading the dough get an adult to help you, so it’s nice and flat . You can use baking powder or yeast in your Pizza, but yeast is more common .Remember to preheat the oven to so that it is ready for when you’re done making the pizza dough. Once you’re done you should have a super tasty pizza!

Making chocolate chip cookies is fun and delicious! When you bake cookies, your kitchen smells warm and sweet. If you add lots of chocolate chips, the cookies taste even better. After the cookies cool down you can share them with your family or friends. When you eat warm cookies, the chocolate melts in your mouth and tastes amazing.

School Attendance - Every School Day Counts
Regular attendance is vital for academic success and personal growth. It builds knowledge, responsibility, and allows teachers to support individual needs, enhancing performance and classroom cohesion. Families can prioritize attendance by:
- Discussing its importance positively.
- Scheduling appointments outside school hours.
- Returning children to school after appointments.
If you know of an upcoming student absence, please email virtualk8@limestone.on.ca or call 613-542-7369 to notify the main office before 9:30am. Safe arrival will call home for all absences at 10 a.m.
Human Development and Sexual Health Curriculum
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
